Diabetes can make it difficult for you to enjoy some delicious drinks, although many of such drinks are not good for health. Even though water is the best drink to take, here is a list of drinks that you can take as a diabetic and enjoy:
1. Chocolate Milk: this can be rich in calcium, although the ready-made brands come stuffed with sugar. So, you can try this at home; mix 1% milk, 3 teaspoons of cocoa powder and date powder or other zero calorie sweetener of your choice.
2. Sweet herbal tea: take some herbal tea like our Aloe Blossom tea which is caffeine-free and loaded with lots of antioxidants, brew for some minutes, strain, chill and then sweeten with your choice of no-calorie sugar substitute. That is a tall glass of refreshment.
3. Orange juice: orange juice tastes good but with 26 grammes of carb in one cup, it will be much better eating the whole orange instead. The fibre in it will help keep you full. If you really want to drink it, try an orange-flavoured light fruit drink with 3 grams of carbs, 15 calories and 100% of your daily vitamin C.
4. Lemonade: I will advise you make your own lemonade, most of the ones you will find in stores are full of carbs. Mix water, fresh-squeezed lemons, zero-calorie sweetener, and ice for a truly refreshing beverage without a single carb or calorie in it.
5. Hot Chocolate: to make this, get a cup of low-fat milk with 2 squares of 70% dark chocolate, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and a little cinnamon. Melt in a saucepan and enjoy it.
6. Apple Cider: this is quite refreshing and medicinal as well. Try to get organic apple cider. You can take it cold, warm or hot. One to three teaspoons in a cup is good. Do not take Apple cider undiluted, it can melt your tooth enamel.
7. Energy Drinks: most of the brands are packed with plenty of caffeine which can raise your heartbeat and blood pressure. Pick a sugar-free and caffeine-free like FAB, also limit your caffeine intake to no more than 400mg per day.

9. Ginger Ale: grate or blend some ginger, add some boiling water or allow to brew overnight. Then sieve, add your zero-calorie sugar substitute and enjoy with ice.
